SolarEdge

Display live solar energy data from your SolarEdge installation directly on your screens. Connect your SolarEdge account once, and templates automatically show real-time production, power, and energy figures.

What does this module do?

The SolarEdge module connects your DST Connect platform to your SolarEdge monitoring account. Once you’ve linked your account with a single API key, you can choose from your solar installations and display their live data on any screen — no manual updates required.

  • Live production data — show current power output, today’s production, and lifetime energy generated
  • Automatic updates — data refreshes automatically from SolarEdge (roughly every 15 minutes), so screens always show recent figures
  • Multiple installations — if your account manages more than one site, select which installation each template displays
  • Power & energy charts — visualise today’s power curve and the energy generated over the last 7 days
  • Central connection — link your account once with an API key; every SolarEdge template reuses the same connection
  • Connection status check — the platform validates your API key and tells you immediately whether the connection is active and valid

How to set up

Follow these steps to connect your SolarEdge account and display its data.

Step 1 — Generate your SolarEdge API key

Your API key comes from the SolarEdge Monitoring Portal, not from DST Connect. In the SolarEdge Monitoring Portal:

  1. Log in at monitoring.solaredge.com as an account administrator.
  2. Go to the Admin section, then open Site Access → API Access.
  3. Accept the API terms and conditions if prompted.
  4. Generate (or copy) your API key.
Note

You need administrator rights on the SolarEdge account to generate an API key. A single account-level key gives access to all installations under that account.

Step 2 — Open the module

In DST Connect, navigate to Modules in the main menu and open the SolarEdge module.

Step 3 — Add your API key

Click Add API key, paste the key you generated in Step 1, and save. The platform immediately tests the key against SolarEdge:

  • The connection status shows Active (green) once a key is stored.
  • A validation message confirms whether the key is valid or not valid. If it’s not valid, double-check that you copied the full key and that API access is enabled in the SolarEdge portal.

You can update or remove the key at any time from the same screen using Update API key or the delete option.

Step 4 — Select a template

Go to the template library and filter by Module templates. Choose a SolarEdge template. In the editor, the template will automatically link to the SolarEdge module.

Step 5 — Choose the installation

In the editor, open the template settings and select the Installation (Site) you want to display. This dropdown is filled automatically with the installations found in your SolarEdge account.

Tip

If the installation dropdown is empty, make sure your API key has been added and validated in Step 3.

Template & display settings

Configure how the template looks and what it shows on your screens.

  • Installation (Site) — select which SolarEdge installation this template displays
  • Header & titles — customise the title text, size, and styling
  • Charts — the template shows a power chart (today’s output in 15-minute intervals) and an energy chart (the last 7 days of daily production); adjust colours and background to match your design
  • Last updated — a footer indicates when the data was last refreshed
  • Publish once — add the template to your playlist and set it to play as normal; the module keeps the displayed data up to date automatically

Good to know

  • Data refresh — figures are cached for about 15 minutes to stay within SolarEdge’s API limits, so live values can lag reality by up to a quarter of an hour.
  • One key, many screens — the API key is stored once per account and reused by every SolarEdge template, so you only need to set it up a single time.
  • Units — power and energy values are formatted automatically (W, kW, or MW) depending on the size of your installation.
