Education Module
Display school schedules and timetable changes from Zermelo, WebUntis, or Xedule on your digital signage screens. Automatic updates — ideal for schools with mobile phone restrictions.
What does this module do?
The Education module displays timetable information and schedule changes on screens. This is especially relevant for schools — for example, since mobile phone bans — so students can still see their schedule changes without a phone.
- Supported systems — Zermelo, WebUntis, and Xedule (Simp/Schedule)
- Live updates — schedule changes are reflected automatically on screens
- Class and location filtering — filter per class (e.g., H1A, H1B) or per location
- Smart display — enable "Skip template if there are no schedule changes" so students are not looking at an empty screen
How to set up
Follow these steps to connect your scheduling software.
Step 1 — Open the module
Navigate to Modules and open the Education module.
Step 2 — Select your scheduling system
Choose your scheduling system: Zermelo, WebUntis, or Xedule.
Step 3 — Enter credentials
Enter the school name and the required token or access token generated from your scheduling software. Once saved, the connection becomes active and data is retrieved automatically.
Tokens (such as Zermelo tokens) may need to be re-activated annually at the start of each new school year. Ensure you refresh the token when the new year begins.
Step 4 — Select a template and publish
Choose an education template from the library. The template automatically connects to the Education module.
WebUntis setup
Specific instructions for connecting WebUntis.
In the Education module
- Open the Education module and select WebUntis
- Enter your WebUntis credentials
- Click Save and verify the connection is valid
In WebUntis
- Go to Administration → Platform
- Click the + icon and select DS Templates
- The overview will show all the credentials needed in the module
- When you click Save, the password becomes visible
Template & display settings
Configure how schedule data is displayed.
- Filtering — in the template editor, filter by specific locations or classes (e.g., H1A, H1B, entered as comma-separated values). Choose whether to display today's or tomorrow's changes
- Slide duration — set how long each slide is visible (e.g., 10 or 30 seconds)
- Slide direction — choose horizontal or vertical scrolling
- Smart display — enable "Skip template if there are no schedule changes". If there is nothing to report, the template is not shown
Place screens at key locations such as entrances, hallways, and staff rooms with different schedule views (e.g., overview for the entrance, teacher-specific for the staff room).
